Honey Hooser Loom
weaving and doing maintenance on this historical loom, located at the Museum of Surre, BC
Honey Hooser purchased the Jacquard Head in 1950's from Manchester, UK.
96 hooks repeated 10 x on 40epi warp (for 2.5" ) repeats;
at bottom bullrush design and woven samples from Hooser collection
Cutting a new set of Jacquard cards (below):
1. create the design of a leaf on point paper by hand and with photoshop repeat and overlays;
2. computer screen with Inkscape (free open source) to create SVG files for lazer cutting
3. cards being cut on lazercutter (at makerlabs,Vancouver), using 4ply mat board
4. leashing the 72 cards on a support
5. cards placed on the loom
6. Ruth weaving (and helping release occasional cards stuck in the cradle)
